German Revolution (1918–1919)
The German Revolution (1918–1919) was a political upheaval that ended the German Empire’s monarchy following World War I. It began in November 1918, when workers and soldiers protested against the war and called for democratic reforms. Kaiser Wilhelm II abdicated, leading to the establishment of the Weimar Republic. Despite hopes for a democratic nation, the revolution sparked conflict between various political factions, including communists and socialists, resulting in violence and instability. Ultimately, the revolution transformed Germany politically, laying the groundwork for significant changes in governance, society, and ideology in the years that followed.
