Tokamak

A tokamak is a device designed to contain and control nuclear fusion, the process that powers the sun. It uses powerful magnetic fields to confine superheated plasma—a state of matter where atoms are stripped of their electrons—into a donut-shaped chamber. By heating the plasma to extremely high temperatures, fusion reactions occur, releasing energy. Researchers envision tokamaks as a potential source of clean, abundant energy for the future, helping to meet global energy needs without the high carbon emissions associated with fossil fuels. Current tokamak projects aim to achieve stable and sustained fusion reactions.
