Power Politics
Power politics refers to the use of power and influence by individuals or groups to achieve their goals, often in the context of international relations or political systems. It can involve strategic maneuvering, alliances, and conflicts to maintain dominance or protect interests. Political legitimacy, on the other hand, is the general belief that a government or authority is rightful and justified in its power. When power politics undermines this legitimacy—through force, coercion, or corruption—trust in the political system erodes, leading to instability and potential conflict, as citizens may question the authority of those in power.
