Power Transition Theory
Power Transition Theory is a framework used to understand global politics and conflicts. It suggests that world power is concentrated in a dominant state, often leading the international order, while other states are rising to challenge that dominance. When a rising power approaches the strength of the dominant power, the likelihood of conflict increases, as the new power seeks greater influence. Essentially, the theory highlights the importance of the balance of power between nations and how shifts in that balance can lead to stability or conflict in international relations.
