Salmonella
Salmonella is a type of bacteria that can cause foodborne illness in humans. It often spreads through contaminated food, particularly undercooked meat, eggs, and unwashed fruits and vegetables. Symptoms of a Salmonella infection include diarrhea, fever, abdominal cramps, and nausea, usually beginning 6 hours to 6 days after infection. Most people recover without treatment, but some may require medical attention, especially young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Preventing Salmonella involves proper food handling, cooking meat thoroughly, and practicing good hygiene.
