Food Safety and Inspection Service
The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is a branch of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) responsible for ensuring that the nation's food supply is safe, wholesome, and correctly labeled. It oversees the inspection of meat, poultry, and egg products to prevent contamination and protect public health. FSIS sets standards, conducts inspections, and enforces regulations to improve food safety. By doing so, FSIS aims to reduce the risk of foodborne illnesses and ensure that consumers can trust the food they eat.
