Good Friday Agreement

The Good Friday Agreement, signed in 1998, is a peace deal that helped resolve decades of conflict in Northern Ireland known as "The Troubles." It established a framework for political cooperation between unionists (who want Northern Ireland to remain part of the UK) and nationalists (who want it to join Ireland). The agreement created a power-sharing government, promoted civil rights, and aimed to reduce violence. It also addressed issues like prisoner release and cooperation between the UK and Irish governments, fostering stability and fostering better relationships between communities.
