Common Travel Area
The Common Travel Area (CTA) is an arrangement that allows free movement of people between Ireland and the United Kingdom, which includes England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Established for ease of travel, it means that people can cross borders without passport checks or immigration controls. While travelers do not need to go through these checks, they still must comply with local laws and rules. The CTA was maintained even after the UK exited the European Union, reflecting the special relationship between Ireland and the UK regarding travel and residency.
