Peacewalls
Peacewalls are barriers built to separate communities in conflict, particularly in Northern Ireland, to reduce violence and sectarian tensions. Originally constructed during the Troubles, these walls segregate neighborhoods, primarily Catholic and Protestant, to provide safety and prevent clashes. While they have succeeded in decreasing immediate violence, peacewalls have also become symbols of division, hindering community integration and reconciliation. Efforts continue to address their impact, fostering dialogue and understanding among residents, as Northern Ireland works toward a more peaceful and harmonious future.
