Ulster Army

The Ulster Army, formally known as the Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF), was a militia formed in 1913 in Ireland, primarily representing the interests of the predominantly Protestant population in Northern Ireland. It was established in response to the political push for Irish Home Rule, which many unionists opposed, fearing it would lead to domination by Catholic nationalists. The group aimed to protect their political and cultural identity. The UVF later played a significant role in the Northern Ireland conflict (The Troubles) from the late 1960s through the 1998 Good Friday Agreement, which sought to establish peace in the region.
