
Martin McGuinness
Martin McGuinness was an Irish political leader and former paramilitary figure associated with the Irish Republican Army (IRA). He was born in 1950 in Derry, Northern Ireland, and became a prominent advocate for Northern Ireland's reunification with the Republic of Ireland. McGuinness played a key role in the peace process that led to the Good Friday Agreement in 1998, transitioning from violence to politics. He served as Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland and led the Sinn Féin party. Despite his controversial past, he was recognized for his contributions to peace and reconciliation before his death in 2017.
