Balkan Wars

The Balkan Wars (1912-1913) were two conflicts in southeastern Europe in which Balkan states sought to liberate areas from Ottoman control and expand their territories. The First Balkan War was fought between the Balkan League (Serbia, Montenegro, Greece, and Bulgaria) and the Ottoman Empire, resulting in significant territorial losses for the Ottomans. The Second Balkan War arose when Bulgaria attacked its former allies over the division of the conquered lands. These wars weakened the Ottoman Empire, leading to its further decline and the eventual emergence of new nations in the Balkans, setting the stage for future conflicts in the region.
