Assyrians

The Assyrians are an ancient Semitic people who originated in the region of Mesopotamia, primarily in what is now northern Iraq. They established one of the world’s earliest empires around the 9th century BCE, known for their military prowess, advanced architecture, and contributions to writing and art. The Assyrian Empire fell in the 7th century BCE, but the heritage of the Assyrian people continues today, with a modern diaspora primarily in the Middle East and around the world. They speak Assyrian (a dialect of Aramaic) and maintain a rich cultural and religious history.
