Assyrian people

The Assyrian people are an ethnic group indigenous to the Middle East, particularly in regions now part of Iraq, Syria, Turkey, and Iran. They are descendants of the ancient Assyrian Empire, which thrived from around 2500 BCE until its fall in the 7th century BCE. Modern Assyrians maintain a distinct culture, language (primarily Aramaic), and traditions, despite facing challenges, including persecution and diaspora. Today, they are recognized as a minority community with significant populations in various countries, actively preserving their heritage while integrating into wider societies.
