Neo-Assyrian Empire
The Neo-Assyrian Empire (911-609 BCE) was a powerful Mesopotamian state known for its military strength, innovative governance, and extensive trade networks. Centered in present-day northern Iraq, it expanded through conquests across the Near East, including parts of modern Turkey, Syria, and Iran. The empire is marked by impressive architectural achievements, such as the grand palaces of Nineveh, and a sophisticated administrative system. Its use of iron weaponry and skilled armies led to its dominance, but internal strife and overextension ultimately contributed to its collapse, paving the way for the Neo-Babylonian Empire's rise.
