Neo-Assyrian period
The Neo-Assyrian period (approximately 911–609 BCE) was a time when the ancient Assyrian Empire reached its peak in power, territory, and cultural influence. Centered in modern-day Iraq, the Assyrians were known for their military innovations, advanced administration, and impressive architectural achievements, such as grand palaces and monumental sculptures. They expanded their empire through conquests, dominating regions in the Near East. The period is also marked by significant advancements in art, literature, and science. However, it ended with internal strife and external pressures, leading to the empire's eventual collapse.
