Universals and Particulars
In metaphysics, 'universals' are qualities or properties that multiple things can share - such as redness, roundness, or humanity. 'Particulars', on the other hand, are individual things we encounter in the world, like a specific apple or a certain person. The debate about universals and particulars asks fundamental questions about how we group and distinguish things in the world and how their properties or qualities are connected to them.
