Conceptualism
Conceptualism is a philosophical view about how we understand universals and particulars. It suggests that universal concepts, like "redness" or "beauty," exist not as independent entities but as mental constructs in our minds. While particulars, such as a specific red apple or a beautiful painting, are tangible and concrete, our understanding of shared qualities comes from our concepts. Thus, universals are rooted in our thoughts, shaped by our experiences, rather than existing separately from particular objects. This positions concepts as essential for communication and understanding without implying that they exist independently.
