Neuroinflammation

Neuroinflammation is the brain's response to injury, infection, or disease. When harmful stimuli occur, the brain activates immune cells called microglia, which work to protect and repair. While this response is essential for healing, chronic or excessive inflammation can potentially lead to damage and contribute to various neurological conditions, such as Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis, and depression. In essence, neuroinflammation is the brain's way of trying to heal, but if it becomes prolonged, it can cause more harm than good. Understanding this balance is crucial for developing treatments for neurological disorders.
