Pragmatics is the study of how context influences the meaning of language. It looks at things like speaker intent, recipient's interpretation, and cultural norms. For example, saying "Can you pass the salt?" is usually a request, not a question about ability. Pragmatics helps us understand these subtle shifts in meaning.
