Metaphor Theory
Metaphor Theory in Philosophy of Language indicates how metaphors allow us to understand one concept in terms of another, often unrelated, concept. Instead of literal translations, it focuses on the indirect meanings that reveal deeper insights. For instance, 'time is money' doesn't mean time is actual currency, but emphasizes its value. Metaphors, hence, reshape our thinking and perception of realities. They are not linguistic errors, but rather creative tools to provide potent, non-literal understandings.
