National Front for the Liberation of South Vietnam

The National Front for the Liberation of South Vietnam, commonly known as the Viet Cong, was a political and military organization formed in the late 1950s. It aimed to fight against the government of South Vietnam and U.S. influence during the Vietnam War. Supported by North Vietnam, they used guerrilla tactics and sought to unify Vietnam under a communist government. The Viet Cong played a significant role in the conflict, particularly during the Tet Offensive in 1968, which marked a turning point in public perception of the war. They dissolved in the mid-1970s after the fall of Saigon.
