History of Vietnam
Vietnam's history is marked by its struggle for independence and identity. It was influenced by over a thousand years of Chinese rule, followed by periods of Mongol invasions and French colonization in the 19th century. In the mid-20th century, the Viet Minh, led by Ho Chi Minh, fought for independence, ultimately resulting in the division of Vietnam into North and South. The Vietnam War (1955-1975) ensued, involving the U.S. supporting the South against the communist North. Vietnam reunified in 1975, leading to economic reforms in the 1980s, transforming it into a rapidly developing nation today.
