Vietnamese history

Vietnam's history spans thousands of years, shaped by influences from China, colonialism, and conflict. It began as a collection of ancient villages, then formed the first unified state in the 10th century. After centuries under Chinese rule, Vietnam established independence. The 19th century saw French colonization, sparking resistance that led to the Vietnam War (1955-1975) against the U.S. While North Vietnam aimed for communism, South Vietnam supported a capitalist government. The war ended with reunification in 1975, leading to economic reforms in the 1980s and rapid development, establishing Vietnam as a significant player in Southeast Asia today.
