National Liberation Front (Viet Cong)

The National Liberation Front (NLF), commonly known as the Viet Cong, was a political and military organization in Vietnam that fought against South Vietnam and its U.S. allies during the Vietnam War (1955-1975). Formed in 1960, the NLF aimed to reunify Vietnam under communist control, promoting land reforms and social justice. It comprised both guerrilla fighters and political activists, employing unconventional warfare tactics, including ambushes and sabotage. The Viet Cong gained significant local support but faced intense opposition from the South Vietnamese government and U.S. military forces, ultimately playing a crucial role in the war's outcome and Vietnam's reunification.
