Charlemagne, also known as Charles the Great, was a powerful king who ruled much of Western Europe in the 8th and early 9th centuries. Crowned Emperor of the Romans in 800 AD, he united various tribes and regions, laying the foundation for modern European nations. His reign marked a cultural revival, promoting education, arts, and Christianity. Charlemagne's empire became a model for governance, influencing future European leadership. After his death in 814 AD, his empire was divided among his grandsons, leading to the formation of distinct European territories. He is often regarded as the "Father of Europe."
