Saxon Wars
The Saxon Wars were a series of conflicts fought between the Frankish Kingdom, led by Emperor Charlemagne, and the Saxons, a group of Germanic tribes in the late 8th and early 9th centuries. These wars, lasting from 772 to 804, aimed to conquer and Christianize the Saxons, who resisted Frankish rule. Charlemagne's campaigns involved intense battles and significant brutality, as he sought to integrate Saxony into his expanding empire. By the end of the wars, Saxony was effectively subdued, leading to its incorporation into the Carolingian Empire and the spread of Christianity in the region.
