Pap Smear
A Pap smear is a medical test used to detect abnormal cells in a woman's cervix, the lower part of the uterus. During the test, a doctor collects a small sample of cells from the cervix using a soft brush or swab. This sample is then examined for signs of cancer or precancerous changes, which can help prevent cervical cancer. It is recommended for women starting at age 21 and is usually performed every three years, or as advised by a healthcare professional based on individual health needs. Regular Pap smears are an important part of women’s health care.
