Pap Test

A Pap test, or Pap smear, is a routine medical procedure used to check for signs of cervical cancer and other abnormalities in the cervix, which is the lower part of the uterus. During the test, a healthcare provider gently collects cell samples from the cervix using a small brush or swab. These samples are then examined in a laboratory. The test is typically recommended for women starting at age 21 and is performed every three years, or every five years when combined with an HPV test. Early detection through Pap tests can significantly improve treatment outcomes.
