Colposcopy

Colposcopy is a medical procedure used to closely examine a woman's cervix, vagina, and vulva for any signs of disease. It is typically performed after an abnormal Pap smear result. During the procedure, a doctor uses a special magnifying instrument called a colposcope to get a clearer view of the tissues. This allows for better identification of any unusual areas, which may warrant a biopsy (removing a small tissue sample for further testing). Colposcopy is usually a quick, outpatient procedure aimed at providing a more accurate diagnosis related to cervical health.
