cervical intraepithelial neoplasia
Cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) is a term used to describe changes in the cells on the surface of the cervix, which is the lower part of the uterus. These changes are often caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), a common virus. CIN is classified into stages, with lower stages indicating mild changes that may resolve on their own, while higher stages suggest more serious alterations that could lead to cervical cancer if not treated. Regular Pap smears and HPV vaccinations are important for prevention and early detection of these changes.
