Huntington's Disease
Huntington's Disease is a genetic disorder that affects the brain, leading to progressive movement, cognitive, and psychiatric issues. It is caused by a mutation in the HTT gene, which results in the production of a faulty protein. Symptoms usually appear in adulthood and include involuntary movements, difficulties with coordination, and mood changes. As the disease progresses, daily activities become increasingly challenging. There is currently no cure, and treatment focuses on managing symptoms. Individuals with a parent who carries the gene have a 50% chance of inheriting the disease.
