Genetic Disease

Genetic diseases are health conditions caused by abnormalities in an individual's DNA. These abnormalities can be inherited from parents or occur spontaneously. They may result from a single gene mutation (monogenic), multiple genes (polygenic), or chromosomal changes. Examples include cystic fibrosis, sickle cell disease, and Down syndrome. The effects of genetic diseases can vary widely, ranging from mild symptoms to severe health challenges. While some genetic conditions can be managed with treatment, others may have no cure, highlighting the importance of genetic counseling and research in understanding and addressing these diseases.
