Autosomal dominant

Autosomal dominant refers to a pattern of inheritance for certain genetic traits or conditions. In this case, only one copy of a mutated gene from either parent is enough to cause the trait or disorder to appear in an individual. This means that if a parent has the trait, there’s a 50% chance their child will inherit it, regardless of the child’s gender. Diseases like Huntington's disease and Marfan syndrome are examples. The term "autosomal" indicates that the gene involved is located on one of the non-sex chromosomes, and "dominant" means it takes precedence over the normal version of the gene.
