Congress of Vienna
The Congress of Vienna was a major diplomatic meeting held from 1814 to 1815, after the Napoleonic Wars, where European leaders gathered to restore stability and order to the continent. Key figures, including Austria’s Klemens von Metternich, aimed to redraw national borders, re-establish monarchies, and create a balance of power that would prevent future conflicts. The resulting agreements shaped Europe’s political landscape for decades, emphasizing diplomacy and cooperation among nations, ultimately leading to a period of relative peace known as the Concert of Europe until the mid-19th century.
