Indian Independence
Indian independence refers to the end of British colonial rule in India on August 15, 1947. This movement involved a long struggle, marked by nonviolent protests led by figures like Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru, as well as movements for civil rights and self-governance. The Indian National Congress and other groups advocated for freedom, emphasizing social justice and equality. The independence was granted after World War II, influenced by global decolonization trends. It also led to the partition of India into two nations: India and Pakistan, resulting in significant political, social, and humanitarian changes.
