Hannibal Barca (247–183 BC) was a prominent Carthaginian general and military strategist, best known for leading his forces during the Second Punic War against Rome. His most famous achievement was crossing the Alps with war elephants to invade Italy, achieving significant victories at battles such as Cannae. Hannibal's tactics are still studied in military academies today. Despite his successes, he was ultimately unable to secure a decisive victory against Rome.
