Carthaginian Navy
The Carthaginian Navy was a powerful maritime force in ancient times, primarily active during the 1st millennium BCE. Based in the city of Carthage (located in modern-day Tunisia), it played a crucial role in trade and military conflicts, notably against Rome in the Punic Wars. Carthage had advanced shipbuilding techniques and a strong emphasis on naval warfare, employing ships like the trireme, which featured three rows of oars. The navy's ability to control the Mediterranean Sea facilitated trade and expansion but ultimately faced defeat, leading to Carthage's decline and the rise of Roman dominance in the region.
