Carthaginian Empire
The Carthaginian Empire, centered in the ancient city of Carthage (in present-day Tunisia), was a powerful maritime and commercial empire from the 9th century BCE until its defeat in the Punic Wars against Rome in the 2nd century BCE. Known for its rich trade networks across the Mediterranean, Carthage excelled in shipbuilding and commerce. Its most famous military leader, Hannibal, is renowned for his daring tactics during the Second Punic War. The empire ultimately fell to Rome in 146 BCE, which marked a significant shift in Mediterranean history and paved the way for Roman expansion and dominance.
