Phoenician
The Phoenicians were an ancient civilization that thrived from around 1500 to 300 BCE, primarily located in the coastal regions of present-day Lebanon and parts of Syria and Israel. Renowned as traders and seafarers, they established far-reaching trade networks across the Mediterranean. The Phoenicians are also credited with developing one of the first alphabets, which greatly influenced later writing systems, including Greek and Latin. Their contributions to commerce, navigation, and cultural exchange played a significant role in the development of Mediterranean societies and laid foundations for future civilizations.
