Cyprus
Cyprus is an island country in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, located south of Turkey and west of Syria. It has a rich history influenced by multiple cultures, including Greek and Turkish. The island is divided into two main parts: the Greek-speaking south, known as the Republic of Cyprus, and the Turkish-speaking north, recognized only by Turkey as the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The division occurred in 1974 following a coup and subsequent Turkish invasion. Today, Cyprus is known for its beautiful beaches, historical sites, and vibrant culture, and it is a member of the European Union.
