Cyprus Problem

The Cyprus Problem is a long-standing dispute between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots over the island of Cyprus. Since 1974, when Turkey invaded following a Greek-led coup, Cyprus has been effectively divided into the Greek Cypriot-controlled south and the Turkish Cypriot-controlled north. The core issues include governance, property rights, security, and territorial boundaries. Efforts to reunify the island involve negotiations facilitated by international bodies, but disagreements persist, making a comprehensive solution challenging. The problem reflects broader regional tensions and concerns about national identity, sovereignty, and security for both communities.
