Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC)
The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is a self-declared state in the northern part of the island of Cyprus, predominantly inhabited by Turkish Cypriots. It was established in 1983 after Turkey's military intervention in 1974, following tensions and conflict with Greek Cypriots. The international community recognizes only the southern portion of Cyprus as the Republic of Cyprus, while the TRNC is recognized solely by Turkey. The situation remains a complex political dispute, with ongoing efforts for reunification and resolution of the island’s divided status.
