Greek Cypriots

Greek Cypriots are the ethnically Greek-speaking people who primarily live in the southern part of Cyprus. They share cultural, historical, and linguistic ties with Greece, and have traditionally identified as Greek. Since the 1974 conflict and subsequent division of the island, Greek Cypriots have governed the Republic of Cyprus in the south. They are distinguished from Turkish Cypriots, who predominantly live in the northern part. Greek Cypriots value their rich history, Orthodox Christian faith, and cultural heritage, and have engaged in efforts to maintain their community and seek reconciliation with Turkish Cypriots.
