Council of Chalcedon
The Council of Chalcedon, held in 451 AD, was a significant meeting of Christian leaders aimed at addressing key theological disputes about the nature of Jesus Christ. It established that Jesus is one person with two distinct natures: fully divine and fully human. This doctrine, known as the Chalcedonian Definition, was important for maintaining the balance in Christian beliefs about Jesus' humanity and divinity. The council also aimed to unify the teachings of the Church and respond to various heresies that had arisen, ultimately shaping the course of Christianity moving forward.
