Bonnie Prince Charlie (Charles Edward Stuart)

Bonnie Prince Charlie, born Charles Edward Stuart in 1720, was a key figure in the Jacobite uprisings, which aimed to restore the Stuart lineage to the British throne. He is best known for leading the 1745 rebellion against British rule, rallying support in Scotland to reclaim his grandfather's crown. His initial successes culminated in the capture of Edinburgh but ended in defeat at the Battle of Culloden in 1746. Despite his short-lived campaign, he became a symbol of Scottish nationalism and resistance against English control, leaving a lasting legacy in both Scottish history and culture.
