Jacobite Rebellion
The Jacobite Rebellions were a series of uprisings in Great Britain during the late 17th and 18th centuries. They aimed to restore the Stuart monarchy to the throne, particularly James II and his descendants, after they were ousted in the Glorious Revolution of 1688. The most notable uprisings occurred in 1715 and 1745, with leaders like Bonnie Prince Charlie. The conflicts highlighted tensions between the Scots, particularly in the Highlands, and the English government. They ended with a decisive defeat at the Battle of Culloden in 1746, leading to severe repercussions for Scottish culture and land ownership.
