Jacobite Army
The Jacobite Army refers to the military forces that supported the claim of the Stuart family to the British throne, particularly during the 17th and 18th centuries. This movement arose after King James II of England was deposed in 1688. The Jacobites sought to restore the Stuarts, leading to several conflicts, notably the Jacobite Risings, with the most famous being in 1715 and 1745. The army consisted mostly of Scots, loyal to the hypothetical rights of the exiled Stuarts, but they ultimately faced defeat, particularly at the Battle of Culloden in 1746, marking the decline of their cause.
