Jacobite Wars
The Jacobite Wars were a series of conflicts in Britain (1689–1746) centered on supporting the restoration of the Catholic Stuart King, James II, and his descendants, against the ruling Protestant monarchs from the House of Hanover. Key battles, like the battles of Culloden, sought to reinstate the Stuarts’ claim to the throne but ultimately failed. These wars reflected deep religious, political, and cultural divisions and ended with the defeat of the Jacobite cause, leading to significant suppression of their supporters and shaping British history by strengthening the Hanoverian monarchy’s power.
