Jacobite

The Jacobites were supporters of the deposed Stuart kings of England and Scotland, particularly James II and his descendants, from the late 17th century to the 18th century. They sought to restore the Stuart monarchy after James was overthrown in 1688. The movement was most active in the aftermath of the Glorious Revolution and included significant uprisings, notably the Jacobite risings of 1715 and 1745. The term "Jacobite" comes from "Jacobus," the Latin form of James. The movement is notable for its cultural impact in Scotland and its role in British history, particularly regarding monarchy and national identity.
